Kyoto: Mimuroto-ji

Several pictures of hydrangeas have been included in these Japanese photos. That's because they're a popular plant in Japan and the rainy season, (when we were there) is the time that they flower. They have greater variety and more intense colors than I am used to in the Midwest.  The best place to see hydrangeas, I was told several times, is Kamakura, and we weren't going there. But Mimuroto-ji, one of the temples near Kyoto, has a valley planted in hydrangeas, and they opened for an illuminated  night viewing the weekend we were there.        So basically, the rest of this page is pictures of hydrangeas, of people viewing hydrangeas, of people photographing hydranegas, and of people photographing people (themselves or other people) in front of hydrangeas. (And the blues are accurate, while the pinks were actually more intense than shown here).
